Human Rights, Eastern Europeans, & Socializing

Yesterday I was at the law school by 8 AM and studied all day until a special lecture from 5-7 PM. All special lectures are followed by a wine reception (brilliant). It was a London School of Economics professor and I have read some of his stuff, not a fan at all, but he did some what hold himself from being too political. It was on human rights and he took the approach that since religion, socialism, Communism, and capitalism have all failed it is time for a new environmental-univeralally minded planet. I asked him during the wine reception why it was that his argument seemed to be concluded by the fact that individual rights are pitted against human rights. He explained the aren't but he was needed to play it up. He liked the fact that I completely ignored the emotional part of his lecture and went right for his argument. Though he didn't really give an answer to my question. The joys of listening to professors who really want to be politicians but don't want to leave their university chairs.

After the lecture and wine reception, I had been chatting to a Turk, a Russian, and a Croatian we decided to go for drinks at a pub and managed to find more eastern Europeans. Nothing like discussing the development of law in Asia Minor. Though somehow we decided to go to a club. Though I did see some tension between Irish and English, as a pretty big fight occurred in the street. It was very apparent that the northern Irish conflict is alive in the minds of those who aren't that far removed from the major fighting. I walked two of the girls home and the heard my philosophy on fights - let them beat the tar out of each other and the next morning they can all be nursing their soars in a Scottish jail for delict, disturbing the peace, endangering the public, et cetera.
